Bachelor of Chemistry Education

Overview

The Chemistry Education Study Program has been granted a “Good” accreditation, as stated in the decree 1361/SK/BAN-PT/Akred-PMT/S/III/2022. As part of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (FKIP) at Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR), this program is designed to produce educators who are competent in chemistry education and possess excellent teaching skills.

The curriculum provides a deep understanding of core chemistry concepts, and focuses on LABIRIN, a fun, interactive, and unique chemistry learning method. It also includes the application of technology in education, and training for the Chemistry Olympiad based on UNPAR’s SINDU values and Ethical Principles. Students will gain practical skills in the laboratory, conduct research in chemistry education, and get hands-on teaching experience through a field practice program.

Graduates of this program are expected to become high-quality educators who can apply the LABIRIN method in chemistry; coaches for the Chemistry Olympiad at the secondary school level; researchers who can solve problems in chemistry education; entrepreneurs in the field of chemistry education; and education consultants.

To become a humane academic community in the field of Chemistry Education that develops local potential to a global level, for the enhancement of human dignity and the integrity of creation.

1. To provide high-quality and humane learning that is fun, interactive, and unique in the field of Chemistry Education.

Objectives

1. To produce outstanding graduates who:
   • embody the UNPAR Basic Values and Ethical Principles, and possess 21st-century skills and literacy;
   • are able to educate using the LABIRIN (Fun, Interactive, and Unique Learning) Approach;
   • are able to coach the Chemistry Olympiad;
   • are ready to serve for the advancement of education in Indonesia.
2. To become a center for research and development in Chemistry education using the LABIRIN (Fun, Interactive, and Unique Learning) Approach.
3. To become a training center for education and the Chemistry Olympiad.
4. To become a study program that is dedicated to improving the quality of Chemistry Education in Indonesia.

Targets

Graduates of the Chemistry Education program are expected to:

1. Possess a strong foundation in educational science (pedagogy) to be able to teach chemistry using the LABIRIN (Fun, Interactive, and Unique Learning) Approach.

2. Have a solid grasp of chemistry, mathematics, computation, and instrumentation, and be able to apply them to solve real-world problems.

3. Be capable of lifelong, independent learning.

4. Be able to collaborate with others and effectively communicate their work, both orally and in writing.

5. Uphold high moral and ethical standards, and demonstrate social sensitivity as outlined in the spirituality and basic values of Parahyangan Catholic University (SINDU).

6. Be able to create their own businesses to support themselves by leveraging their pedagogical skills and knowledge of chemistry.
